Buggy Bandits: an outlaw cracks his whip on horseback while a posse and a stagecoach thunder down a frontier main street at sunset

Buggy Bandits is an open-world action game set in 1891 Arizona Territory. You ride into the boomtown of Dry Gulch with a bullwhip, two fists and $25. Sheriff Amos Pike runs the town, and saloon owner "Lucky" Della Quade wants it back. Everything with four legs or four wheels is yours for the taking: saddle horses, buggies, buckboards, stagecoaches, and the train.

Buggy Bandits was called Grand Theft Buggy until October 2026. It's the same game, with your saves and progress intact.

It is a third-person, over-the-shoulder sandbox in the spirit of the classic 2000s crime games, rebuilt for the frontier. It runs in any modern web browser on desktop or phone, with no download, and it's free.

What you can do

The story

Chapter 1: Dry Gulch

Five jobs for Della Quade against Sheriff Pike: a whiskey-wagon heist, a mail race, a stagecoach escort, a bank job, and a showdown at the depot. Then a sixth, The Payroll Express, a train robbery.

Chapter 2: Copper Bluff

Up the mountain to help Moll Brennan of the Lucky Strike against Silas Thorne and the Copper Queen mining company's hired regulators.

Chapter 3: The County Seat

In Sterling, newspaper editor Hattie Ward takes on the company's crooked Judge Harlan Voss, and you keep her press running.

Chapter 4: The Agency

The Pinkerton Agency swears out a warrant for you. Ride south to San Lázaro, take the Rurales' rifles, hold the plaza at sundown, and settle it with Superintendent Cyrus Blackwood on a moving train.

Controls

Keyboard and mouse: W A S D to move or ride, mouse to look, right mouse to aim, left mouse to attack, Shift to sprint or crack the reins, Space to jump or brake, E to steal a horse or rig, R to reload, M for the map, K for skills.

Phone and tablet: turn the phone sideways. A floating move stick on the left, drag on the right to look, big Fire and Aim buttons with optional aim assist, and a hand button that does whatever the on-screen prompt offers.

Look and sound

The 3D graphics recall the PlayStation 2 era: low-poly characters, painted textures, distance fog and golden-hour light. The game has an original country soundtrack, including a sung gunfighter ballad, and fully voiced cutscenes. Every model and texture is generated in code, and it runs on three.js and WebGL.
